FAQs

Q. Will my concrete crack? Yes, concrete does crack. However, your concrete will be either be saw cut, hand cut or have plastic control joints installed to attempt to control where cracking occurs. Occasionally, some errant hairline cracking outside the control cuts or joints do occur. This is totally normal and does not affect the integrity of your concrete. A proper substrate, concrete strength and reinforcement will help diminish and control the chance of cracking. Q. Does Stamped Concrete Fade? A. Cleaning and sealing stamped and colored concrete should be done on a regular basis just like any other home maintenance. The frequency will depend on how high a traffic area to cars, foot traffic, direct sunlight, water, and any chemicals the concrete may be exposed to. We recommend resealing every 1 to 2 years depending on wear. If you wait longer, you may notice the color fade slightly. But just like waxing a car, reseal your stamped concrete and the color will be as vibrant as the day it was installed. SLC Construction, Inc. offers maintenance service plans for upkeep of you stamped concrete. Q. How often do I need to seal my stamped concrete? We recommend resealing every 1 to 2 years depending on wear.   Q. Is stamped concrete slippery? Yes, it can be very slippery depending on the sealer used and if it’s wet. We add an additive to our sealers called shark grip. It makes the surface non-slip, especially around a pool and driveways and walks. This can be reapplied also.
